The IPA Contract
North Coast Physicians IPA has been contracting with local and national health plans since 1986. The non-risk lines of business exclusively serviced by the physician network range from PPO, POS/EPO, Workers Compensation, Behavior Health, and Managed Maternity. Our network physicians and their staff are well educated in handling these special lines of business.
The Provider Panel
The North Coast Physicians IPA network consists of
approximately 250 physicians. All physicians are either board certified or board eligible. Because we are primarily a specialist panel, we are able to offer many sought after subspecialists such as pain management physicians, pre-natal genetic counselors and neuro-ophthalmologist, among others. The providers cover a significant portion of San Diego County with a deep concentration in the northern region, and we have many providers as far north as Riverside County. Not all providers admit patients to the same hospitals; however, our physicians have admitting privileges at Children’s Hospital, Fallbrook Hospital, Inland Valley Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Palomar Hospital, Pomerado Hospital, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, Sharp Memorial, Sharp Murrieta, Tri-City Medical Center, UCSD San Diego and Thornton.
Benefits Of Contracting With Our Network
North Coast Physicians IPA allows the health plan to handle the utilization and precertification decisions to ensure continuity of the individual contract requirements. This process also keeps the health plan aware of their enrolled members’ treatment plan. In an effort to reduce the workload of the health plan, North Coast Physicians IPA maintains it’s own credentialing. Our Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO) is NCQA certified and quickly conducts all of the primary source verification required, which allows us to give you a network of providers in a timely manner. The ability to add a new provider to our IPA quickly benefits your enrolled members by allowing the new providers’ offices to see patients without great delays. Health plans contracted with our IPA are assured that by delegating the credentialing responsibility to North Coast Physicians IPA, they will not only avoid the associated headaches of credentialing but also save time and money.
